Enhancements to the Library's resource discovery services

Greetings from the Library

During the month of December, staff in the Library have been busy updating a number of the online services in preparation for 2014.

The key gateway to Library services, the website, has been overhauled to make it simpler to navigate. Central to this redesign is an increased focus on Summon as the key resource discovery tool. Summon enables you to search across the Library's collections of physical resources (print books and journals and DVDs) as well as all of our eBooks, the majority of our eJournals (not all publishers will provide access to their content via Summon) and the contents of our research repository, ResearchOnline@Nd.

The Library Catalogue is still available for you to search and enables you to search across the Library's collections of physical resources (print books and journals and DVDs).

In addition to the overhaul of the Library website, Summon has been upgraded to version 2.0.  This change is largely about the way in which Summon presents search results to you, including offering more information about each result to help you determine its value before you link to it.  You can export citations for these resources via email or direct to EndNote or RefWorks.

Each school has a designated Liaison Librarian who can work with you to improve your use of Library services and collections. These Liaison Librarians have also compiled an extensive suite of Subject Guides that will assist you with your research and keep you abreast of new resources available in your subject area.
