New Desktop PCs in the Fremantle Campus Libraries

From the 26 March through 8 April Information Technology & Services (IT&S) will be deploying new desktop PCs in the Fremantle Campus libraries.

These new desktop PCs will replace existing desktop PCs which have reached the end of thier lifespan and fill gaps where workstations have been been removed due to faults.

The replacement cycle will take place from 5pm on the days in question and in the hours before we open for business the next day. All of the desktop PCs will be ready for you to use from 8am the day after the replacement occurs.

The schedule for the deployment of new computers will be completed by the morning of the following dates

25 March - 30 workstations - Galvin Library (ND35)
26 March - 40 workstations - St Teresa Library (ND17)
26 March - 10 workstations - Medicine PBL rooms (ND35)
8 April - 24 workstations - Craven Law Library (ND13)

In addition to these new PCs we will be addressing the dminished performance which has been noticed in the library's desktop PCs, since Office 2007 was deployed on campus.

During the mid-semester break, IT&S will be performing a memory upgrade on all workstations not replaced by the new workstations. The memory upgrade will raise the performance of the older equipment.
