The University is upgrading its phone system at the Fremantle Campus over the coming two weekends and as a result there will be no phone services at the campus libraries as follows:
• 26th and 27th March – No phone access to the Galvin Medical Library
• 2nd and 3rd April – No phone access to the St Teresa’s and Craven Law Library
In the absence of phone access please communicate with the libraries via email. The email contacts can be found on our website.

New Desktop PCs in the Fremantle Campus Libraries
From the 26 March through 8 April Information Technology & Services (IT&S) will be deploying new desktop PCs in the Fremantle Campus libraries.
These new desktop PCs will replace existing desktop PCs which have reached the end of thier lifespan and fill gaps where workstations have been been removed due to faults.
The replacement cycle will take place from 5pm on the days in question and in the hours before we open for business the next day. All of the desktop PCs will be ready for you to use from 8am the day after the replacement occurs.
The schedule for the deployment of new computers will be completed by the morning of the following dates
25 March - 30 workstations - Galvin Library (ND35)
26 March - 40 workstations - St Teresa Library (ND17)
26 March - 10 workstations - Medicine PBL rooms (ND35)
8 April - 24 workstations - Craven Law Library (ND13)
In addition to these new PCs we will be addressing the dminished performance which has been noticed in the library's desktop PCs, since Office 2007 was deployed on campus.
During the mid-semester break, IT&S will be performing a memory upgrade on all workstations not replaced by the new workstations. The memory upgrade will raise the performance of the older equipment.

New Weekend Library Opening Hours
In order to improve access to the University Library we have changed the weekend opening hours from the beginning of Semester 2. We have abandoned the idea of concurrent opening of the three Fremantle Campus Libraries in favour of a sequential patter on both Saturday and Sunday:
- Galvin - 10am - 1pm
- St Teresa's - 12.30pm - 3.30pm
- Craven - 3pm - 6pm
Students that the library staff have spoken to, have responded favourably to the idea of being able to access the PC network for 8 hours rather that the previous 3 hours.
Please let us know what you think by submitting a comment.
