University Library Services to Support Your Learning and Research

With the commencement of teaching for 2015 (and acknowledging that some of you have been underway for a few weeks already) we wanted to briefly highlight some of the ways in which the University Library can support your learning and research.

Library services include but are not limited to:

·         Providing access to the information resources you require to inform your research and the development of your submissions for assessment

·         Acquiring resources we don’t have upon request from you

·         Assisting you to use the discovery tools which provide access to the collections, including developing effective search strategies and evaluating the resources you discover

·         Supporting you in managing the citations to these information resources

·         Supporting you in accurately citing these resources using the University’s approved referencing styles

·         Delivering basic IT support (e.g password resets, using IT equipment such as copier/printers, configuring wireless devices, etc)

·         Providing answers to frequently asked questions in our AskUs service (now expanded to include questions about IT services and Blackboard)

·         Developing video tutorials to show you how Library services work in practice

·         Offering directional advice to you when you are struggling to navigate on campus

·         Providing a welcoming environment in which you can study on your own or collaboratively

Our service model is very simple one – if you need help ask us and if we can’t help we will find out who can.

Services are provided in person, via email, over the phone and online.  The newly re-configured Library home page is the place to start to access Library services and to access support in using these services.

Please get in touch with us to discuss how we can actively engage with supporting support your learning and research (http://library.nd.edu.au/home/contact ).
