Library Loans - Pre-Overdue Notifications

As of Thursday 27th August the Library will be able to send email pre-overdue notifications for all library loans.

These email notices will be sent to your University email account and will be sent three days before your loans are due to be returned. The email will list the items borrowed and the date they are due.

It is worth noting that the issue or non-issue of a pre-overdue notice doesn’t remove the obligation on you to honour the borrowing contract you have entered into with the Library. You should use this prompt to ensure that the materials are returned by the due date or to request a renewal of the loan. Renewals are only possible where the item is not yet overdue and cannot be obtained on short term loans (reserve, 3-day and 7-day loans).

You can request a renewal of the loan(s) in a number of ways:
  • By accessing the my account function in the Library Portal
  • By contacting the library you borrowed the materials from
  • By attending one of the libraries with your Staff Card

There is additional information about borrowing on the Library web pages and in the Library FAQs service .

Reminder Notices for Items on Loan are now available!

Just a reminder that the University Library now uses a product called Library Elf that allows you to track what items you currently have out on loan, what items are coming up due and what items might be overdue.

Please have a look at the following blog post for more information on how to set this up:

Pre-Overdue Notices are now available via Library Elf

If you need any assistance with this, please contact your library.

Pre-Overdue Notices are now available via Library Elf

Elf is an Internet-based tool for keeping track of University Library items you have due, overdue and ready for pickup. Users can keep track of their NDA library account and receive reminders (sometimes called pre-overdue notices).

Reminders are sent when the user wants it -- before items are due (up to seven days advance notice, weekly notice or everyday reminders). You can even set up an RSS feed for your personal blog!

How do I sign up??

  1. You will need to have already registered your Library Card at the University Library and have set up your Login for the Library Catalogue (Horizon Information Portal)
  2. Go to the Library Elf site and click on Sign Up (side bar on the left under Sign Up/Help)
  3. Click on 'Before signing up, check if your library is on Elf'
  4. Find 'University of Notre Dame Australia' under International and click on 'signup'
  5. You will then be taken back to the 'Create your account' page. Complete steps 1 - 4 using your NDA email address and Library Catalogue password that you already created (1st step in this procedure)
  6. Once this is done and you have confirmed everything, you can configure your Elf Account and check your cards.
